Updizzate in ya fizzace.

Hi.

Haven't been drawing much lately. Uni's been hella-busy. Plus I got some work going with Catfish Productions. You can see some piccies here.

Last night Louie was playing with my pocket knife after I took some scissors away from him. Then he started play-fighting with Leigh and nearly cut his pinky finger off. After he bled all over my room, we took him to the hospital. He got some stitches. He's okay now.

Bye.

Rain, rain... it went away!

Click on the image for the bigger version. DO IT!

Here are some snaps of the process:

The shitty original sketch. I came pretty close to chucking it.

Fixing up the sketch. You can see the the body structure here. That really helped in getting the proportions right.

Cleaned up line-work.

Some flat colour.

An alternative colouring I did using the burn and dodge tools. I didn't really like the artificial look, so I went for more painterly colouring.

Finished colour, before colour-adjusting with the background.

Count Sockula for realz.

Time spent looking for old sock: 20 seconds
Time spent looking for buttons: 6 minutes
Time spent cutting up old t-shirt for cape: 2 minutes
Time spent making teeth: 2 minutes + toilet break
Time spent THREADING THE FUCKING NEEDLE: too fucking long

Resolution: the next time I decide to make a sock-puppet, DRAW THE FUCKING EYES ON.

Wikipedia rules.

This is the funniest shit I've seen on Wikipedia:

Mike the Headless Chicken

Some gems of information include: "His crowing [...] consisted of a gurgling sound made in his throat" and "Not quite sure what to do with his by now loose head, on the first night after the decapitation Mike [the chicken] slept with it under his wing".

As a kid, I was always amazed that chickens could still kick about for a few minutes after being decapitated. If I had known of Mike back then, I would've gone nuts.

Conclusion: Wikipedia is rule ass.

You wish you had one of these.

MySpaz

I was bored before uni this morning so I decided to re-work my MySpace profile. I ditched the whole "emo" thing, and now I'm basically a 15 year old caricature of myself.

FAQ you.

I made a li'l FAQ page (Frequently Asked Questions) for my site, which you can find here. No one really asks me these questions, but I figured that if I pretend that people pay attention to what I do, people might actually start paying attention.

Have YOU had it the right way?

Inspired by a conversation I had with Steve at uni today.

Oh yeah, and the singer who's music video this is for is Jen Cloher. Her music is very pretty: http://jencloher.com/

Remeber the Brown Bastard.

Seeing as I don't have any new drawings to offer you, here are some shitty animations I made back in the summer of two-thou:

THREE-DEE!

My faithful reader/s,

I haven't been updating much lately cause I've been spaztastically busy with uni. I think for the first time in my course, I'm actually struggling with some of the software they're "teaching" us. We're "learning" to use a 3D modelling program called Lightwave, and it's a bitch if ever there was one. I finally feel like I'm getting a grip on it, though. Today I made an oven. Hopefully by next Tuesday I'll have an entire kitchen.

It's not Gollum or anything, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Until next we meet,

--Joe.
