More good new$!

Some of you may remember the business course I was doing. It's a part of NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme). The basic run-down of it is, that by the end of the 7-week course, I produce a business plan. A panel of government "experts" look at the plan and decide whether or not the business is viable. If they decide it is, I get financial support for 12 months while I get my business up and running. If they decide it isn't, I have to line up at Centrelink with the rest of the bums.

I just got the call today that I got accepted on the payments. I'm rapt. It's pretty much free money for a year. All I have to do is have quarterly reviews with some dude from the government who checks to see if I'm still trying to make my business work, and not just bludging off the government's cash. They expect the business to make around $11,000 (Net Profit) in the first 12 months, which I feel more confident in doing now that I have this children's book job.

I don't know why people are complaining about the government all the time. Sure, innocent refugee families are being practically jailed in the middle of the desert, forced to wait for years with no contact to the outside world, while their children grow up surrounded by barbed wire fences and security guards, no pets, no grass to play on, no hope of having a normal childhood...

...it's good to get some perspective on things, sometimes.
